Google has launched its Wallet app for Android users in India. This app helps people store digital things like tickets, rewards cards, and car keys on their phones. It makes it easier to move from using paper to using digital things.
Ram Papatla, who works on Android at Google, talked about how they want to make using the app easy. He said this during an event in New Delhi where they introduced the app. Google has partnered with 20 companies to start with, including PVR Inox, MakeMyTrip, Air India, Shoppers Stop, and BMW. They will add more partners later.
In India, the Wallet app won’t be used for payments. Instead, Google Pay, another app from Google, will be used for paying. Papatla explained that Google Pay is still important for payments in India, while the Wallet app is more for keeping digital things organized.
